CableCard refers to a specific piece of hardware that is designed to replace
the set top box. For Media Center, you must purchase a new PC (running
Vista Home Premium or Vista Ultimate) that is Digital Cable Ready and
purchase one or two Digital Cable Tuners. The PC MUST be certified as
Digital Cable Ready, or you won't be able to activate the CableCard/Tuner
connection. Additionally, the PC must have an HDCP enabled video card, or
you'll get content protection errors when you try to watch most HD content.
Any PC that's certified as Digital Cable Ready will have such a card.
